If muscles mean beauty to you, You can't do without blueberries
A body builder knows that a balanced development of body mass and muscles is indispensable for a beautiful body. But what happens when these long-awaited results are ruined by broken capillaries? Are there any cures available? Obviously, the most well-known remedy is surgery but if you don't want such a nightmarish solution you could go for… Vaccinium myrtillus , commonly known as the blueberry .
Only few bodybuilders know that they contain various kinds of medicinal properties such as organic acids, minerals, tannin, pectin, flavonoids, antocianin, vitamin A, C and in lower quantity but definitely efficacious, vitamin B .
Blueberries also have incredible astringent, anti-histaminic, anti-microbial and anti- diarrheic properties. The main elements contained in blueberries are polyphenols that may prevent:
- ulcers ,
- inflammation
- capillary permeability : What does capillary permeability mean? It means that the polyphenols in blueberries reinforce capillary walls blocking the escape of proteins and fluids in the tissues and as a result, encourage the reduction of edema and breaking of the capillaries .
They also have an antiseptic effect and increase resistance of the cardiac muscle (miocardio).
Also in the field of ophthalmology, blueberries are often used since antocianin acts on the capillaries of the retina increasing the production of a protein (rodopsina) in the retina itself. This protein actually increases one's ability to see better in low light conditions.
Moreover, blueberries contain a great deal of antioxidants. According to the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity ( ORAC ) table, they have a value of 2,400 which is quite high. Check out other foods on Wikipedia.
I could write infinitely about the innumerable beneficial properties this fruit has for bodybuilders but I would just like to add that this fruit should be taken as much as possible in the form of fresh fruit, juices (undiluted), or in capsules that can be bought in any herbal store.
